POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Maintenance & Construction Manager, the Maintenance Assistant
performs hands-on maintenance, repair, and improvement work across
Watershed/Equinox buildings and grounds. This role supports the execution of established maintenance plans, project scopes, and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure the safety, functionality, and long-term
stewardship of our creative community spaces. The ideal candidate combines strong technical ability with initiative, accountability, and respect for a vibrant artist-centered environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Maintenance & Construction Manager:
- Perform general repair projects including drywall, painting, minor carpentry, fixture
replacement, plumbing, electrical, and other maintenance projects as directed. - Perform maintenance to support proper functioning of building systems including
electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and security systems - Complete tenant improvement projects in a timely and professional manner.
- Support capital improvement and renovation projects as directed.
- Assist with unit turn preparation for studio or commercial spaces when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS - Hands-on facilities or building maintenance experience
- Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Proficiency using maintenance equipment and tools including but not limited to
scissor lifts, forklifts, grinders, chainsaws, and power/hand tools. - Ability to lift and carry heavy and/or cumbersome items and move throughout
multi-floor buildings safely with or without reasonable accommodations - Perform all duties in a safe, compliant, and professional manner in accordance with
OSHA regulations and organizational safety policies - Being comfortable not knowing and able to ask clarifying questions.
- Ability to problem-solve with both traditional and alternative solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, transparently, and respectfully with staff and
tenants verbally and digitally. - Independent, reliable, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage routine tasks
while staying responsive to shifting priorities - Flexible schedule availability for weekday, weekend or occasional evening shifts
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
COMPENSATION AND TERMS
This is a part-time, benefits eligible position (25 hours minimum per week) based in the
Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, WA. The role is fully on-site, with some flexibility in
scheduling. It is non-exempt and eligible for overtime, with compensation ranging from $25
to $30 per hour, depending on experience. General tools, supplies, and equipment will be
provided. Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance, SIMPLE IRA, paid time off,

Watershed Community Development is a community-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
that operates Equinox Studios, a complex of over 170 artist and artisan workspaces.
Watershed is preparing to build over 600 units of workforce housing and community space
along 4th Avenue S. in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle.
