Community Relations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Community Relations Manager will organize and conduct outreach activities to the Duwamish Valley and greater Seattle art communities by attending events, meeting with key individuals and organizations, facilitating working groups for future program development, providing development updates to impacted communities, and collecting community feedback. The Community Relations Manager will be responsible for maintaining contacts and connections in a CRM and the calendar of community events. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work with Watershed and The Bend Live/Work District team to identify community groups and individuals to meet with, and events to attend and participate in. 
  • Schedule and conduct gatherings to provide information about The Bend and collect feedback. 
  • Manage and update database of community contacts, calendar of community events, and data file of interactions. 
  • Create and coordinate outreach activities and events with staff and volunteers.  
  • Build and maintain Watershed’s community ecosystem map. 
  • Support The Bend Team members in Affordability, Livability, Sustainability, Diversity and Art commitments by convening working groups that focus on each of those areas. Build relationships with specific constituencies to strengthen networks and grow understanding of needs.  For example, meet with employers to determine how to reach employees who want to live in The Bend. 
  • Highlight milestones in The Bend’s activities to be communicated and celebrated on social media, in press releases, in newsletters, and at events. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience in working and interacting with a diverse range of communities, individuals, and organizations. 
  • Knowledge of and experience with Duwamish Valley communities. 
  • Ability to manage databases and organize activities. 
  • Ability to manage complex projects and an array of responsibilities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, document, and facilitate a wide range of community related activities. 
  • Flexibility to schedule work activities that include evenings and weekends as necessary. 

COMPENSATION AND TERMS 

This is a flexible position beginning at 35 hours per week of mostly in-person activities, with the potential for additional hours in the future. Starting rate of $35-$38/hour plus eligibility for company-paid benefits including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, a Simple IRA plan, and paid time off. Potential to move to salary after completion of a 60-day probationary period.

  • Watershed Community Development is a community-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that operates Equinox Studios, a complex of over 170 artist and artisan workspaces.  Watershed is preparing to build over 600 units of workforce housing and community space along 4th Avenue S. in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle.
